The oceanfront land, harborfront land and two homes for sale are located in charming, peaceful Hope Town, Bahamas. The village is on the island of Elbow Cay, which is part of the Abaco Islands, an archipelago in the northern Bahamas. Hope Town is a picturesque, 18th-century fishing settlement -- like a small, New England village on a tropical island. Set foot on this island and step back in time to a slow-paced, simpler way of life -- in short, to the kind of place you thought no longer existed:
  • a quiet pedestrian village where walking and bicycling are the main forms of transportation
  • a safe, family-oriented atmosphere where children roam free, playing along narrow, flower-lined lanes
  • a tranquil, friendly community where people know one another and doors are left unlocked
  • a village that maintains its historic charm while providing modern amenities.

Hope Town offers:
  • a relaxing, serene, "away from it all" atmosphere
  • the natural beauty of tropical foliage, exceptionally clear jewel-toned waters and secluded beaches with miles of white powder sand
  • spectacular sailing, boating, deep-sea and bone fishing, snorkeling, diving and surfing.
On the short walk through town, you'll find well-kept homes, a handful of quaint shops, several restaurants, a coffeehouse, a wine bar, a small hotel, and two tiny but well-stocked grocery stores. The village rings a sheltered harbor -- a haven for sailboats from around the world and the center of this boating community where many adults and children travel to work and school by boat. There is a full-service marina in the harbor and several smaller marinas around the cay. The four-mile-long island is populated by roughly 300 Bahamians, as well as second home owners and tourists from America, Canada, and Europe.

Hope Town is a popular vacation destination. Many second home owners there rent out their cottages when they are away, as the area has a long and strong history of generating rental income.
